Thurgood Marshall was a Supreme Court justice and a civil rights advocate. He was a legal counsel member for the national Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He guided the litigation that destroyed the legal underpinnings of Jim Crow segregation. He served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court -the nation's first black justice. Before being on the Supreme Court he argued 32 cases (more than anyone in history). He won 29 out of them. He worked as an attorney for the NAACP and argued cases that involved racial justices.
