Today's youth can be a bit of a rowdy bunch, but teens in the 50's were much more restricted than they are today. With the baby boom starting, there were more children all around the United States, and by extension, more teenagers then there had ever been. The 50's were a challenging time for teenagers, because they were born into a world trying to change, and a world that could erupt into a war at any second. Parents worried about the communist threat, and wanted teens to act and behave a certain way. Boys had to have their hair short enough, girls weren't allowed to wear certain clothing, and music, particularly rock'n'roll, were being banned. A divide was growing between the new generation and the old. The things that teenagers wanted and liked were considered taboo by adults. Even though they tried to ban it, teens still managed to get hod rods and listen to rock'n'roll. Some teens even began talking back to their parents. To them, the 1950's were their time, and no one was going to stop them

Below is a Google Document from a fellow student in Mr. Moore's Classroom. She is quite fond of writing, and wanted to take a stab at writing in the character of a 1950's teenage girl. Please feel free to leave a comment, but be kind and constructive if you're going to criticize her work. Please enjoy the diary of 1950's Teenage girl.
