Miranda vs Arizona was a Supreme Court case when a suspects rights weren't given and Ernesto Miranda took it to the highest reigning court. It all started when Ernesto Miranda was arrested for robbery, rape, and kidnapping in 1963 in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon his arrest he wasn't told his rights and told the police that he did commit his crimes because he wasn't informed of his Constitutional Rights. After this he was to serve a maximum of thirty years in prison for his crimes. He didn't have a lawyer at the trial which lead to his demise. He wanted the Arizona State Supreme Court to review the case because they didn't give him his rights but they denied him. However he went to the Supreme Court and they accepted his case in 1966. The Court ruled in favor of Miranda and said that he didn't recieve his Constitutional Rights. This led to a new trial in which Miranda was still convicted of his crimes.
