On October of 1962, one of the more well known historical events began to unfold over the next thirteen days. The United States entered a very tense time with Soviet Union due to a new missile installation being added in Cuba. These Soviet owned missiles would be able to quickly hit anywhere in the Eastern United States that they wanted. Kennedy met with several officials to discuss potential plans, but Kennedy decided upon the naval blockade and a public announcement of the missile crisis. Although a close call with a soviet ship occurred, it would seem that the blockade worked. Kennedy received a message from Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev stating that if the U.S. promised not to invade Cuba, than they would remove their missiles from Cuba. They agreed, and the Missile Crisis itself ended on October 28.
