The Korean War is one of the most forgotten wars beside the War of 1812 and Mexican-War. It is called the forgotten war. This war was fought to stop the spread of Communism in the Korean peninsula. The North Koreans were trying to spread Communism into South Korea and South Korea was underpowered and needed an ally to help fend off the North Koreans. The U.S. was trying to deliberately stop all forms of Communism after World War Two. So the U.S. entered itself into what was supposed to be a short war but it lasted a lot longer than it was intended for. It was a three year war that really didn't stop Communism in North Korea but it did stop the push for Communism in the South. The Battles of The Korean War were very vital to the freedom of all from Communism. The First battle of Seoul- This started when the North Koreans invaded Seoul and took it right from the South Koreans. The North Koreans took Seoul in under three days. The South Koreans blew a bridge so that they couldn't advance without building a temporary bridge. The Second Battle of Seoul- This was another key battle that saw the recapturing of Seoul for the South Koreans. The United Nations was supporting the South Koreans and helped give aide to South Korean armies and citizens. The South Koreans also executed most of the prisoners and whoever they thought were communists. The Third Battle of Seoul- The Third Battle of Seoul was an attack on the South Koreans by the Chinese to make sure that North Korea won the war and their communist regime spread throughout the Korean Peninsula. The Chinese won and took over Seoul. However, the U.N. was getting deeper into South and North Korea because the Chinese Army was weak and exhausted from fighting. Battle of Pork Chop Hill- An offensive by Korean soldiers with U.S. allies to capture Hill 255. They took control of the hill. They defended the hill with pride and tried to defend it at all costs.
