introduction
1980's was an era where dance music started emerging, as well as new wave. Disco fell out of style but because of that, post-disco, Euro disco and dance-pop became more popular. Urban genres such as rap and hip hop would continue their rise in popularity through the 1990s and 2000s. Hip-hop was the dominant genre in the African American community in the 1980s. Hip hop had a strong influence on the pop music in the late 1980s.
